The Rundown

After comparing a plethora of different kitchen sinks from a number of brands, we can say confidently that Kraus is, in our opinion, the go to brand for the best undermount kitchen sinks for granite countertops. If you’ve had a chance to look over the above comparison chart, you’ll notice two different Kraus sinks are listed; we believe that due to the quality and craftsmanship behind these products, the only thing you’ll really need to decide on is whether or not you want a single or double bowl sink. Because the KHU100 received slightly higher praise from buyers, it’s received our top honors.

While kitchen sink manufacturers don’t make undermount sinks specifically for granite countertops, we’ve heard from numerous buyers that Kraus sinks are a breeze to install with granite countertops, while the stainless steel finish compliments granite colors on both ends of the spectrum and everywhere in between.

What’s especially great about the KHU100 is it comes with an installation template, instructions, and mounting hardware, meaning you’ll have it attached to your granite accurately and securely in no time. It seems Kraus really understands the importance of the kitchen sink to a home, and has done everything possible to make the installation process as seamless as possible – that’s something we can get behind.

Regarding craftsmanship, the KHU100 is made of premium grade 16 gauge stainless steel, meaning it’s extremely durable and dent-resistant. While the vast majority of buyers absolutely love this sink, a select few have stated it scratches more easily than they anticipated. Again, a VERY select few have said this, but we wanted to at least make you aware. Furthermore, Kraus includes its proprietary NoiseDefend soundproofing technology, which entails super-thick rubber pads that wrap around over 80% of the base of the sink; the rubber provides vibration absorption and greatly reduces noise caused by using the sink.

Speaking from firsthand experience, there are few things more frustrating than a shallow sink. From water splashing on your or all over your granite countertops, to the impossible task of washing that large skillet, we think shallow sinks should be outlawed, and it doesn’t seem like Kraus is much of a fan either. This particular sink is 10″ deep and can easily hold the largest items you have around your kitchen, such as baking sheets, stockpots, and, you guessed it, skillets. Kraus explains that the KHU100 can hold up to 30 dinner plates from bottom to top.

While most sinks require the buyer to purchase accessories after the fact, Kraus has included a number of different items with the KHU100. A bottom grid, 3-piece basket strainer, and cotton dish towel are included with purchase, meaning you won’t need to worry about finding accessories with the right dimensions or style to pair with your KHU100. Finally, Kraus provides a lifetime warranty (yes, you read that correctly) with purchase of this product. With its quality, ease of installation for granite countertops, and from a brand as reputable as Kraus, the KHU100 is an incredible undermount option.

The Rundown

Fair warning, our review of the KHU103 is going to be very similar to the KHU100 review above, and that’s a good thing. As we stated above, we believe Kraus offers the best undermount sinks on the market. In fact, if we were to write an article about undermount sinks in general, it would undoubtedly be a Kraus (whether we choose an undermount or top mount configuration, the world may never know).

Again, while sink manufacturers don’t specifically make sinks for granite countertops, we believe that the ease of installation, quality and style of the two Kraus sinks in this post make them the best undermount sinks for granite countertops.

While the KHU103 is eerily similar to the KHU100, it does differ in one major way: the KHU103 is a double bowl sink, while the KHU100 offers a single bowl configuration. While we might have our own personal opinion on the single bowl versus double bowl conundrum, that’s not the purpose of this post. Rather, we’ll provide the facts regarding the KHU103, as we did the KHU100 and further explain why we believe it should be strongly considered for your home.

As stated above, this particular sink offers two bowls, with the smaller one measuring about 13″ wide and 17″ long, and the larger coming in at about 17″ wide and 17″ long. Those who prefer a double sink like the KHU103 usually deem one side of the sink the ‘clean’ side, and the other ‘dirty’. While you can easily store both clean and dirty dishes in your sink without worrying about them touching, the tradeoff here is the lack of one large bowl for cleaning your extra large kitchenware.

Like the other Kraus undermount sink above, this one has been designed with 16 gauge stainless steel, making it very durable and dent resistant. As we stated in the above review, a very small number of buyers have complained that this sink scratches more easily than they had anticipated. While consensus is this sink easily stands the test of time, we didn’t want to leave this information out of our review. Adding to this, the KHU103 also has Kraus’ NoiseDefend soundproofing technology, meaning your sink will absorb noise while it’s in use. The KHU103 is just as deep as the 100, providing 10″ of space that can hold up to 30 dinner plates stacked up, with the top plate sitting just under the top of the sink.

Finally, this sink includes the same kitchen accessories with purchase as the KHU100, as well as a limited lifetime warranty.

Closing Remarks

While there are quite a number of undermount sinks on the market, we hope we’ve helped you narrow down your search for the best one to go along with your granite countertops. After extensive research, we truly believe Kraus provides the best options with a number of industry leading features. Here’s to everything, including the kitchen sink – provided you make a decision and buy one, that is!
