WoodBridge Bath T-0011 Dual Flush Toilet – The Top Pick

The Rundown

The WoodBridge Bath T-0011 is one of the most complete toilets we’ve ever seen. Although WoodBridge Bath is a rather obscure brand with only 12 years of history to look back on, they rival even the most legendary bathroom brands (we’re looking at you, TOTO), and the T-0011 is testament to that.

Since this post is about elongated toilets, it almost feels redundant to note the T-0011’s oval-shaped toilet bowl. Adding to its comfortable form, WoodBridge Bath has designed this toilet to have a modern, clean and sleek look that fits well in any bathroom style. Furthermore, its comfort height nicely compliments its elongated seat, as sitting down and getting up won’t give you an unwarranted workout.

While this toilet is categorized as low consumption, it goes a step further than the TOTO Drake toilet reviewed below. The T-0011 has a technology called dual flushing, meaning the user can press one of two buttons depending on the type of waste needing to be flushed. If the waste is liquid, a 1.0 GPF button can be pressed, while if the waste is solid, a standard 1.6 GPF button is available. WoodBridge Bath notes that this toilet is able to save up to 16,500 gallons of water per year when compared to a 3.5-gallon toilet.

What we really love about this elongated throne is the fact that purchase includes everything you’ll need to get it up and running. While some toilets don’t include a seat or other hardware with purchase, the T-0011 includes a pre-installed soft-closing seat, high quality wax ring, and floor bolts. Adding to this, its siphon flushing design (similar to TOTO’s in the review below) provides a powerful, yet quiet flush, although a few users have complained that the force behind the flush isn’t always enough and occasionally two flushes are needed; while this isn’t at all a common complaint, it’s worth at least noting.

Due to the T-0011’s sleek and minimal design as well as its one piece nature, it’s a breeze to clean and keep clean. While its skirted trap-way is aesthetically pleasing, it also makes it so dirt and dust has a much more difficult time accumulating, as there are no corners or grooves like a traditional toilet.

As mentioned above, this particular toilet is one piece, which means its easier to install, is more compact than the average two piece, and is easier to clean. We’re huge fans of one piece toilets and their convenient nature, so it comes as no surprise that they’re becoming increasingly more common as toilet brands design new products.

Finally, a 5 year limited warranty comes standard with this toilet, which covers any porcelain parts that fade or any glazed parts that stain within 5 years of purchase. Additionally, there’s a 1 year warranty on the flushing mechanism as well as the soft closing seat.

TOTO CST744SL#01 Drake Toilet – The Runner-Up

The Rundown

Securing the runner up spot for the best elongated toilet is TOTO’s Drake Toilet. TOTO is a brand with a rich legacy that doesn’t need much introduction; they’ve been designing and crafting toilet since 1917, and are one of the most trusted brands in the industry.

The TOTO Drake is an elongated toilet (surprise, surprise) with a high profile design, meaning you’ll have more than enough seat space to sit comfortably and also be situated at the optimal height; there’s nothing worse than sitting down on an inviting elongated toilet only for your knees to come mere inches from hitting your chin due to the toilet being too short.

As TOTO is a leader in the toilet industry, it should come as no surprise that this toilet is categorized as low consumption, with 1.6 gallons being consumed per flush. Adding to this, the Drake has been designed with TOTO’s siphon jet flushing action, meaning you won’t need to worry about the potential embarrassment and stress of a clogged throne. TOTO even goes as far as saying this toilet contains commercial grade flushing performance. However, unlike the noise of some of the most powerful flushing toilets, the Drake is still quiet enough not to wake the rest of the house when you use the bathroom at 2 a.m. The Drake also has a fully glazed trap-way as well as a ceramic exterior.

This toilet contains (almost) everything needed to start doing its job, including the lid, fittings, and trip lever with purchase. The one thing you’ll need to purchase in addition to the toilet, however, is an elongated seat. While we’re not huge on purchasing toilets that don’t include the seat with purchase, the TOTO Drake is such a great product that we’ve chosen to give it some grace and instead be reminded of all its features. Adding to this, the Drake is at a reasonable price point, meaning you’ll get to choose the toilet seat that’s right for you (a SoftClose, a washlet, high-tech bidet seat, etc.) and still not have spent as much as some of the other toilet options with seats included would run you.

Unfortunately, one other con that we need to mention is the Drake’s two piece design. While usually cheaper than their one piece counterparts, two piece toilets are known to be more difficult to clean, install, and larger in size. Looking at the comparison chart above, it’s plain to see that the Drake is both taller and wider than the T-0011. There is hope for the Drake, however: if you’re taller than the average bear, or if you yourself are a bit older or you’re purchasing this toilet for an elderly relative, the fact that it’s five inches wider and three inches taller than the T-0011 may actually be a good thing.

Lastly, TOTO provides a 1 year limited warranty on this toilet, which is a far cry from the 5 year warranty provided with the T-0011.

Closing Remarks

[su_note note_color=”#ffffff” text_color=”#000″]

Although we like to make jokes about toilets – i.e calling them ‘thrones’, calling the bathroom ‘the office’, etc. – having a comfortable seat to take care of business really is important and shouldn’t be overlooked. While round toilets have their place in extremely confined bathrooms, buying an elongated toilet is a no-brainer if you have an at least average-sized bathroom. Between the T-0011 and the Drake, we think you’ll find an oval-shaped toilet that you and your family will all greatly appreciate.
